Cult Classics: WOODSTOCK (1970)

DIRECTED BY: Michael Wadleigh

50th Anniversary Screening!

An intimate look at the legendary Woodstock Music & Art Festival, from preparation through cleanup, with historic access to insiders, blistering concert footage, and portraits of the concertgoers. Over four days in August 1969, nearly half a million young Americans travelled to upstate New York farmland for a music festival. There was rainy weather, mud and inadequate facilities but Joe Cocker, The Who, Sly and the Family Stone, and Jimi Hendrix were on fire. The event came to symbolize the late 1960s in terms of the musical, social and political ideology of the era. One year after the historic festival Warner Bros. released this epic 70mm documentary, WOODSTOCK: THREE DAYS OF PEACE AND MUSIC, which includes appearances by Arlo Guthrie, Richie Havens, Jefferson Airplane, Joan Baez, Santana, and more. Director Michael Wadleigh and his team flood the screen with images, using double and triple split screens, irresistible music and almost hallucinogenic crowd scenes to portray the ecstatic chaos of the generation that embraced peace, love and music.
